Full-time/Non-Exempt, 40 hrs/week; 12 months per year
CSEA Range 25; $3,550.26 Monthly

OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of an administrator, performs various information and recruitment activities in support of the District's outreach and recruitment goals. Works effectively with diverse populations and effectively assists current and potential students. Performs related work as required.

Some highlights and details associated with this position:
College Campus work schedule of Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Over the summer, that changes to Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with Friday off.

Representative Duties:
The duties recorded below are representative of the duties of the class and are not intended to cover all the duties performed by incumbent(s) of any particular position. Coordinates recruitment for the college and develops recruitment plans in collaboration with other recruitment and outreach technicians; provides assistance to members of recruitment teams; contacts potential students*
Establishes and maintains year-long, campus-wide calendar of recruitment and outreach activities*
Works with Institutional Advancement in developing recruitment materials*
Provides targeted recruitment of educationally and economically disadvantaged students in accordance with the District's Student Equity plan and/or LEAD ESL Department*
Serves as liaison to local high schools; organizes information on attending college; participates in recruitment visits; maintains ongoing contacts with local high schools and/or other participants*
Participates in recruitment events domestically and internationally*
Serves as liaison between students and Admissions and Records to ensure accounting accuracy and timelines*
Participates in student career fairs and other special recruitment functions off-campus and serves as the District's primary representative*
Assists students with enrollment, application, assessment, orientation and registration processes*
Disseminates recruitment information to prospective students, high schools, community members and places of business and institutions of post-secondary education*
Provides input and support for participation in various special campus activities including career day, college day, senior college, orientation and graduation*
Maintains close working relationships with District staff and Institutional Advancement; coordinates activities with other similar programs*
Prepares information correspondence for students and other appropriate campus faculty and staff*
Assesses and identifies potential recruiting markets*
May establish and maintain home-stay program and related student-oriented services such as, but not limited to, airport pick-up, orientation to Butte County, etc
May serve on a variety of District committees as requested
May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in social science, business, interdisciplinary studies or a related field or the equivalent*; AND
Three (3) years of experience closely related to the representative duties of this class; AND
Graduation from high school, G.E.D. or the equivalent**.
* Bachelor's Degree education equivalency equals two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience for each full year (24-30 units) of college. Work experience must be in an office setting.
** High school education equivalency equals an adult education diploma or four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain a valid driver's license throughout duration of employment with the District.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience working collaboratively with diverse constituencies.
Experience assisting potential students in identifying their academic and career goals and with determining successful strategies for achieving those goals.
Experience with successfully planning and implementing outreach recruitment activities and events be organized and able to work independently; be available to work nights and weekends; and an ability to effectively engage faculty and staff in recruitment, outreach and retention efforts.
Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish/Hmong in a professional setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
May be acquired through education, training and/or experience.

Knowledge of: District policies and procedures; the laws, codes and regulations, as well and any applicable updates related to the specific responsibilities of the position; the structure of higher education; the understanding of linguistic, gender and cultural issues; excellent written, verbal, electronic and persuasive communication skills; modern office practices, procedures and equipment; the utilization of a computer and associated hardware.
Ability to: apply District policies and procedures; analyze and interpret regulations, rules, codes and applicable laws and apply them to departmental activities and functions; analyze, interpret and prepare reports; use generally accepted methods for recruitment and outreach; take the initiative, complete projects and meet deadlines; work independently; be creative; track recruitment efforts and results; research and accurately produce documents, reports, spreadsheets and correspondence; maintain accurate records; operate various office equipment including computers, typewriters, calculators, fax machines, copiers, printers, etc; learn and retain vast amounts of information regarding the college and its programs and services; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work; effectively collaborate with others; communicate professionally in confrontational situations; work with diverse populations; provide information pertaining to your assigned area and the department policies, procedures and other pertinent information; utilize keyboarding skills commensurate with the required functions for this position.

Supplemental Information:
WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No assigned permanent staff to supervise. May provide work direction to short-term and student employees.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Normal office environment.

CONTACTS:
Faculty, staff, administrators, students and the general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment, although, some travel required.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and must agree to undergo and pass a pre-employment physical examination, based on the physical requirements of the position, prior to employment. The physician will be selected and paid for by the District. Disabilities not related to the essential physical job requirements will not preclude the applicant from being hired.
Education Code ยง 87408.6 states that no person shall be initially employed by a community college district in an academic or classified position unless the person has submitted to an examination within the past sixty (60) days to determine that he or she is free of active tuberculosis.
As a condition of employment the position you are applying for will require that you provide fingerprints to the local police department. The fee charged by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the fingerprint report is the employee's responsibility. If you should be offered this position you will be asked to sign a payroll deduction form which will authorize the District to deduct the fee charged by the DOJ from your first paycheck.
